The Director of Development oversees fundraising activities for COSAC, including the organization’s annual COSAC Fund Appeal, Special Events, Foundation and Community grant activities and planned giving. With less than 40% of its funding from state government sources, COSAC relies on the generosity of members, foundations, business and community groups to support its operations.

Ellen graduated from Princeton University with a BA in English Literature. She has more than 14 years of experience in the developmental disabilities and nonprofit fields. Ellen oversees fundraising activities for COSAC, including the organization’s annual COSAC Fund Appeal, Special Events, Foundation, Community grant activities and planned giving. Prior to joining COSAC in 2003, Ellen was the Executive Director of the Kids Foundation for Developmental Disabilities in New York City where she managed all Foundation operations. During the previous nine years, Ellen worked as a Marketing Representative before being promoted to Manager of Corporate Relations at the YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities in Manhattan.

“As a sibling of an older brother with a developmental disability, I understand the challenges families face. Long before joining COSAC, I admired the organization’s mission, the caliber of its staff and its dedication to providing parents with accurate and useful information. My parents did not have the benefit of an organization like COSAC when my brother was initially diagnosed 35 years ago.”
